This volume introduces early Christian conceptions of historical writing and their significance for patristic communities. It explores how ancient Christians documented their heritage through apologetics, martyrdom narratives, biographical works, and formal church histories. The work demonstrates how examining the contributions of early church figures, both male and female, illuminates how Christian identity connects to the efforts of preceding generations, while addressing the ahistorical and individualistic patterns found in modern Christian practice.
