An Old Testament scholar reverses the conventional question by asking whether the New Testament is necessary. Goldingay argues that since Jesus and his disciples only knew the Old Testament, which Jesus affirmed as God’s Word, perhaps “the Old Testament…as a rich and splendid revelation” merits reconsideration. The book examines this provocative premise from multiple perspectives to challenge readers’ understanding of biblical texts and their relationship to one another.
