This commentary series illuminates Old Testament backgrounds, allusions, patterns, and references throughout the New Testament. Longman demonstrates how unfamiliarity with symbolism hampers modern readers’ comprehension of Revelation, showing how its first audience would have naturally understood its imagery. The work combines rigorous scholarship with respect for biblical texts to clarify previously puzzling passages and offer fresh interpretations of the apocalyptic text.
